Say You, Say Freak

My friend Laura pointed me in the direction of this clip, and I felt like everyone needed to see it.

For those who don't remember, this is what Fergie looked like when she was on "Kids Incorporated." Imagine if this was the video for "Big Girls Don't Cry." The song would take on a horrifying new meaning.

But really, this is horrifying enough. I mean, what the hell is that clown doing with that broom?

Also, for those who don't know, Laura, our friend Stephanie, and I have a long-standing agreement that Lionel Richie is our mortal enemy. (It's a long story, but there really is a story.)

That makes this clip doubly delicious.

Yes the broom-wielding clown is scary, but what is up with Fergie's unnatural arm movement?? They're like little arm-shaped dowels attached to her shoulders, lightly swaying in the wind. Creepy.

Seriously, Diana!

And also... welcome! I've been so happy to read your comments, and I'm glad you're part of the "ITHY" party.

Wait ... wait ... FERGIE WAS ON KIDS, INCORPORATED?!

I used to love, love, LOVE that show. I even had a Kids, Incorporated club with some kids in the neighborhood. (The lyrics of the theme song were especially clever: "Kids incorporated, K, I, D, S!")

I don't remember this episode, though, nor do I remember Fergie specifically. Surely her name wasn't Fergie then? I feel like I would remember that.

I watched this clip in a public place -- headphones in, naturally -- and I must say, the clown with the broom pushed me over the top into public laughter.

Just looked it up ... FERGIE WAS STACY ON KIDS, INCORPORATED?! I guess it makes sense: Stacy Ferguson, sure.

But seriously, who knew Stacy would turn out so trampy? Oh, I guess you can tell in this opening:

What a little smiling blonde hussy!

One more comment and I'm done, I swear, but how did I not realize that Kids, Inc. was such an important show for people's careers? I'm reeling here.

Just found this 1991 opening:

Okay, first of all, Kids, Incorporated was still on the air in 1991? That's insane. No doubt Mark was still watching it then, but I don't think I even was aware it still existed past 1986.

Second, hello Miss Love Hewitt! You didn't have the killer ghost-whispering rack back in those days, I see.
